Blankie Fleece

Do you or do you plan to let your child have their blankie outside of the crib?

I would just like to give some advice to those that would like to hear. I had a fleece blankie for my daughter and I bought a few different kinds so she wouldn’t get use to just one. I NEVER let my daughter bring the blankie outside of her crib and it’s such a wonderful thing. REASON: When it comes to nap time or bedtime I say to her (She is 18 months) Do you want to go by blankie? She get’s VERY excited and runs to her bedroom! I NEVER have a problem putting her down to sleep. I will bring it on long car rides too!

I didn’t have it in her bed when she was too young, only when she got older. She also has a stuffed lamb that we call Lamby that we leave in her crib at all times and she loves to see him each time too!

I just wanted to share with you all. I know all children are different but it’s helped me out so much and I would love for you to benefit from it too! Plus it’s nice not having her drag it all around the house and her getting to attached to it!

I carried my blankie around until it wasn’t much more than a rag held together by a few strings. I took it everywhere–grocery store, shopping with my mom, church, etc. and I think I turned out alright.

Neither of my boys really took to a blanket, but my mom bought them both dogs from FAO Schwarz when they were newborns. My older son (5) still carries him around from time to time, but never outside the house. When we go somewhere, or when he gets up for the day, he puts his dog under the sheets and tells it goodnight. My younger son (4) never really took to his.

I’d say keeping your daughter from her blanket except for at nap/bed time is obviously working for you, so good! Not all kids turn into raving lunatics when they’re forced to leave their comfort items at home though. Now pacifiers…OMG. Don’t even get me started on the parents who let their 3 and 4 year olds continue to use one. That’s just laziness on the part of the parent.
