My baby is 4.5 months, when is it ok to give her a lovey/blanket? (and how do I know what to give her?) I’d been keeping blankets and such out of her crib but lately she breaks out of her swaddle sometime during the night and uses it more as a blanket. I was going to start weaning her off the swaddle but am unsure how to do that as well.
once my daughter could lift her head and turn a little, I gave her her blanket. She will go right to sleep if she has something to snuggle. If you baby can pick the head up and roll, I would say(in my opinion) it would be okay to let them have a lovey in the crib. I am sure I will be getting a lot of thumbs down for this answer b/c so many “experts” say not to put anything in the crib. I stick with the arguement that babies are well more aware of their surroundings than these “expert” give them credit for. The latest studies suggest that SIDS is more of a nuerological disorder than just suffocation.
