Crib Fitted
I am planning on using a victorian iron crib. It has been stripped and repainted. We have had a custom mattress made to fit the crib. We live in an old victorian brick home, and have kept all the furniture inside antique. My husband still thinks we should get a new crib. A carefully inspected antique crib, free of known bugaboos like chokable finials and too-wide bars that’s seen many babies safely through infancy probably has better odds than a modern one with their ridiculously high rate of recalls… Really, for any baby equipment, thoughtful, careful, loving parents doing a thorough inspection beats placing your faith in a factory. |

Moon Stars Baby Bedding
Okay, I have a very neutral ( Unisex ) cream colored crib bedding with hardly visible little gray moons and stars in an oak colored crib. I chose it because I’m running out of time and I have no ideas yet for a nursery, plus I like the cream color. I’m having a little girl, and I was wondering if any of you had any ideas what colors for paint to put with cream , also I would love for someone to tell me what a good nursery theme I could go with that matches cream bedding. I don’t want anything too bright , and I’m not painting my walls pink, so hopefully I haven’t shortened my options! Thanks for anyones ideas/ hints ! I don’t know where to start!! The artist behind this website http://www.mysweetandsour.com/ has developed some nice color schemes and themes for her personalized signs for nurseries. Click the “Personalized Art” icon to see all the designs. Many include cream color. You can match the colors and maybe order a sign that accents the décor. |

Super Soft Baby Bedding
I have two options that I love. One is hello kitty, in lilac and soft greens. It’s super cute for our little girl. The other is pink/green with Flamingo’s and a beach theme, which is perfect since we live on the beach. Here’s the dilemma….we haven’t bought a house yet, so until we do, the baby will be sleeping in our bedroom, so I’m not sure how her daddy will feel about living in a hello kitty room, lol. Then again, the fabric for the flamingo’s looks a little cheap. What do you think? Which do you like best? http://www.rustichomestyle.com/servlet/the-1182/glenna-jean-crib-bedding/Detail http://www.lambsivy.com/newsite/product.shtml?249 They are both cute. Personally I am not a big flamingo fan but Hello Kitty is great! |

Crib Mattress
I got a used crib mattress from a friend of ours for our new crib. We are expecting in January and I want to clean the crib mattress before I put sheets on it. I was going to use bleach water but I wasnt sure if it is safe. Does anyone know the best way to go about this? I would use vinegar/water solution instead. The vinegar disinfects, but has a lot less chemical/fumes. If you do use a bleach solution, let the mattress air outside very well before you bring it back in to use. It should have no trace of chlorine smell left. You might want to even wipe it down a few times afterwards with a little warm soapy water, just to get all the bleach off. |
